Relay module won't work

Fundamentals
Grounded you are not.

I'm so sorry but can you explain a bit if you don't mind I'm too dumb for this :sob:

None of your GND terminals ("pins") is connected to anything.

Maybe the one that we can't see is connected

  • You have a lot being powered by that Arduino +5V regulator. Recommend you power it at 5V off the battery, you may need to add a buck converter (your battery is what - 7.4V nominal, are those 18650s?). Don't forget to connect the grounds.
  • That switch on D7, what's going on there? Are you just using pin 7 to supply +5V to the relay module coil and controlling switching with D6? Like, you just set D7 to HIGH in void setup()? It looks to me like to have + voltage on one side of the switch and Ground on the other?

It the auto/manual switch

It just looks like you do not have a connection the the Uno GND pin but I'm sure the white wire actually is connected to ground

ok.

Hi, @Kczgzr

What is this part of your course called.
If it is due Aug 10th, what is the lecturer supposed to be teaching you until then?

I would suggest you reverse engineer your project and post a copy of your circuit, a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?
Hand drawn and photographed is perfectly acceptable.
Please include ALL hardware, power supplies, component names and pin labels.

No matter what course you re doing, you should be able to produce a proper schematic.

Tom... :+1: :coffee: :australia:

Hello. I'm so sorry for the late reply. I've been busy with uni work. Also this course is engineering perspectives. I am not sure what I did but I did make a hand drawn circuit diagram to compare it with the one provided

Here is the hand drawn circuit diagram.

Update. I turned on the battery and only one side of the bo motors is working. Basically the robot is now making circles and nothing else and still the relay module isn't working according to me idk?

If the handwritten schematics represent the connections you made, then this does not match with the 'block schematic' you posted.
The block schematic seems correct to me ( and it should if it was drawn by the author of the project ), the handwritten schematic does not ( and this should explain why some parts are not working ).

Remove one battery ( to be on the safe side ).
On the breadboard there are 4 connection that should be 'shifted by 1 place on the right' and 1 that should be 'shifted by 1 place on the left'.
You must also connect the arduino gnd and +5v to the breadbord gnd and vcc respectively

Check these connections and after checking... double check ( as per engineering practice ).
Don't rush in applying power, if you have a multimeter check that all gnd are connected together and that all +5V are connected together ( all sensors should be connected to the +5V ), if you don't have a multimeter... what are you waiting, go and buy one you need it!

Note
That yellow 'zigzag' on pin 7 is a 1k resistor that connects pin 7 to the switch ( you don't really need it but i/o pins directly tied to gnd or vcc, but as I said you don't need it... if you don't have at hand ; - )

Good job ( ah and after all checking don't forget to reconnect the battery befor turning on the circuit )

Final note ( promised )
How do you plan to carry 'the thing around'? I mean after making a step outside the door, you could have a 'couple' of wires disconnecting... not super reliable ( and I'm a little bit anxious )

Oh my god thank you sm. I will try it right now and I do have a multimeter :sob::sob: I'll get back to you and let you know if something changes. Thank you again

Hello. I'm so thankful to you and yes I fixed the circuit. Thank you so much. Now the relay module is working. I turned it on now and as I mentioned earlier my battery holder is kinda malfunctioning so I have to tighten it with a cardboard piece till I receive the new battery holder till evening or tomorrow. Now the problem is that when I turned the battery on it started to work basically the pump and stuff but then there was a click sound near relay module and it won't move then. Then it also started to make circles again and went backwards. I will fix the battery part soon but other than that the bluetooth and relay module is is lighting up also the servo motor moved a bit for some secs only. Also the flame sensor, two of them light up like both the LEDs light up when I bring the lighter near them but the third one has the both the LEDs lighted up with or without using the lighter near it. I would like to send you a video of it if you let me mail you or if there's any other way but again thank you so much this means a lot to me

  • If you make a video ( which is good ) you can post on youtube and paste here the link
  • if you don't have a reliable power supply to the arduino ( which is definitely no good ), try removing the connection from the arduino Vin to the motor driver Vcc and connect the arduino to the usb of your pc: this whay you have a reliable power supply to the board and the sensors ( motors and pump may suffer from power losses due to the battery holder, but this is not so important ). As now your pc and car are connected by a cable, it is better 'immobilize the car', I mean put something under the car so that the wheels can rotate freely ( movement is relative so if the car is steady move the other things around ; - )
  • if an ir sensor ( I imagine those are ir sensors?! ) is not working, recheck connections, verify with the multimeter if the power supply is ok, if it still does not work we may conclude it is defective/broken, it should not be a great deal

Hello. I'm so sorry for the late reply. I hope you're still available :frowning: . I finished my assignments first so I can have time for the project. Today I changed the battery and used a new battery holder. I connected all the stuff and I connected the bluetooth too and yes it worked. But the thing is the slide switch like when I change it the bluetooth is still working basically it will stay on manual mode even if I use the slide switch and when I try to use the servo motor through the bluetooth rc controller provided it did move but didn't splash water because the water pump isn't working. Also I checked the sensors only two work and for the third one the flame sensor has both the LEDs on with or without heat. And I did this an hour ago at that time it was moving finely with the help of the remote but when I tried it again right now it moved well but suddenly started to move on its own basically the motors are working on there own idk what happened crying . Below I have attached the drive link of the two videos

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1LKGxtEOpqVe2q6oGv7K1IytC8I4pIFyP

Here is the controller I've and for the splash water i click on that triangle thingy

Ok I think I messed up real bad. I changed the third flame sensor but I faced the same problem when I turned on the robot the other two flame sensors had only one LED blinking which is goof but the third one again was blinking with both LEDs. Also when I turned on the robot again it didn't go out of control. But yes about the flame sensor I thought I might have messed up the circuits and while it was on i removed the jumper wire from the Arduino and right when I removed it the other two flame sensors turned off. I tried to fix it but nothing happened. I uploaded the code again but they're still off. I think I did something really wrong
