Relay not working for windturbine

I will try to buy one tonight.
(If my mom won't get home very late) :stuck_out_tongue:

Yes, well a very good idea indeed. The multimeter is to the electronics worker what the tape measure is to the carpenter/ builder or many other trades. It allows you to actually know what you are doing!

Your transistor MPSA06 is also not connected correctly. Rotate it by 180 degrees if it is still alive. The emitter must be connected to ground and the collector to the relay coil.

Pffffffft,
I'm such an idiot I even looked it up, but guess in the end I still made that mistake.
Luckily I have 4 other transistors so I will try it when I'm at the university with another one.
Thanks for that I never would have seen it otherwise

Hi,

Tom.... :grinning: :coffee: :coffee: :australia:

I know that it's internally connected like that. But in my eyes I see those as parallell (coil relay and the diode).
And I know I'm probably wrong. But how would you put the diode then so it isn't shortened?
Snor.

hI,

You cannot mount it there, you would be best to solder two wires to the coil pins and plug the wires into the protoboard pins in the central area of the board.
You have the relay coil and the diode in parallel and that is okay, but the protoboard has a shorting rail also in parallel, so no current flows through the coil, but through the short.

Wow, that sucks so hard haha.
I was trying so hard to solve it on my own before asking help.
I will try it this friday when I'm at uni.
I will say if it works or not this friday (let's hope it will).
Thanks for the help everyone!
Snor

What are you studying at uni ?

Electro mechanical engineering, but it's the first time doing something practical thanks to covid :frowning:

Hi,
Haven't you done any electronics as home hobby/enthusiast?

Tom.... :grinning: :coffee: :coffee: :australia:

Nope I haven't.
The only thing I ever did was changing my light switches
Now that I have worked with the arduino it looks pretty cool, so maybe I'll continue doing it (in a cheapskater way :p)

It works, thanks!
