I've read the Getting Started with Arduino book and kinda want to start building something myself. I'm not the most creative person so I've had a hard time thinking of projects I would enjoy. One massive pain point is that my desk is across the room from my guitar amp. I have my music on the computer and like to play along but it's a hassle going back and forth from the desk to adjust volume/tone and stuff. It clicked that if I got some sort of RF receiver and some motorized potentiometers I could probably make everything remote controlled. I feel the programming part would be easy but I would like some guidance on where I could find parts for this project. This might be a good first project since it would only be 4 pots and a RF receiver.
