Hi,
I am currently trying to see if i can send IR codes from my arduino using IR Led's. I have a sony RM-883 remote, and I have found codes that the remotes sends.

I was hoping someone could guide me on how to convert these codes so that the arduino can send IR pulses to the TV to imitate the function of my broken remote control.

The particular IR LED you're using doesn't make much of a difference. If you play around with it you'll find that regular colored LEDs, lasers, or just about any light emitting object will work (albeit at different maximum ranges).
