Remote location communication with 315mhz transmitter

So I’m working on a project where I would leave a sensor, an Arduino uno, and some type of module to relay the data back to the internet (I’m thinking about using a 315mhz transmitter right now) in a park in my community pretty far away from my house.

Is there any module or device that could upload straight to the internet from the middle of the park without sending it back to my computer directly?

I’ve been looking for quite a while, and if you could help me that would be great.

The 315 MHz modules typically have range of at best a few hundred meters, with unobstructed line of sight.

A GSM (cell phone) module or satellite modem like the RockBlock would work.

Yeah, that’s what I found out, but I couldn’t figure out anything better to use.

I think that I’ll look into the GSM module. The satellite modem is a little too much for this project.

Do you have any specific GSM recommendations? If not that’s fine, I can find some.

Thanks for your help!

I have no recommendations for GSM, and they depend on your locality anyway. Google "arduino gsm sensor" for countless similar projects on line (avoid Instructables).

That’s fine.

I found a couple tutorials and I’ll keep on looking, but I think that this could work.

Thanks for your help!

On the radio side, a LoRa module could cover many kilometres, 10 - 30 times further than a basic 315Mhz module, but regardless, it does sound more like a project for GSM ......

Interesting! That does sound cool, but I’m probably just going to stick to the gsm for now.

Thanks!

And out of interest whats the nearest large town ?

Take a look at this map, if your within a few km of a Gateway you can get limited amounts of data onto the Internet for free.................

Oh wow. I didn’t know that! The location is actually pretty close to a couple, so that’s good news!

This is awesome, thanks!
