Remote relay for garage door

The remote for my electric garage door has decided to stop working and I can't figure out why, changed batteries etc and I'm having no joy.

I'm going to get in touch with the manufacturer to get a resolution but in the mean time I was wondering about how much of a good idea it would be using a remote relay to short out the switch on the wall in the garage that allows you to open/close the door from inside the garage.

It's a momentary switch and the remote relay I have allows me to momentarily close a circuit so it should work on that front.. my concern is about security. The remote and receiver have to be 'paired' but I doubt there is any rolling codes etc that keep it secure.

How much of a good idea would this be to keep me going in the short term?

Can we guess there is an Arduino hidden in there, somewhere?

No Paul it's just a standalone device off eBay, I made this post in the general forum area but a mod must have moved it

Just wired this in an it working but I am unsure about how secure it will be. Guess I will just have to get the proper remote fixed as soon as I can.

I installed the relay in parallel with the wall switch so that the wall switch still works. It will do for now and save me having to use the side door all the time.

I would say, open your door by hand. Has worked for me until 20-something years ago (which is when I stopped having a garage door).
