Replacing Arduino UNO's micro-controller

I want to replace my Arduino UNO's micro-controller with external ATmega328p-pu micro-controller and want to use it in a circuit . Is that possible??? Please help

"it shows error" isn't enough information.

We have no idea what you did, or what you used to do it.

Did your replacement processor have a boot loader in it?
If not you need to burn one in with either a programmer or an other arduino set up like a programmer.
