Report Bug's in the Arduino IDE 2.3.6

Hi,
It's small, but it cost me one hour. Using the IDE to send seriell Data to a board send simple the Data a nothing else (No CR/LF) that is fine.
But in the seriell Monitor Display with CR/LF.

@Opa_Peter

Please post your code. Also, to be sure, why have you posted this in the PLC IDE category - is it specific to a single Arduino product?

There is no code necessary. I do it with Arduino Nano and ESP8266. It's the same. Cause is it inside the ide.

Okay, then. Since there’s no evidence to consider, there’s no consideration to be given. You haven’t been here in eight years, and suddenly step in with a ‘bug’. We have no idea of context or validity. I’m out. Good luck!

I moved your topic to a more appropriate forum category @Opa_Peter.

In the future, when creating a topic please take the time to pick the forum category that best suits the subject of your question. There is an "About the _____ category" topic at the top of each category that explains its purpose.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Perhaps it's my bad English…
You can repeat it with Uno/Nano/Esp8266 (an I think more) boards. There is not one line of Code in the uC necessary to test it.
I only want to give you a tip. The bug is not important for me. No I knew the difference in sending string and displaying string.
At lest, is it important to send reports monthly?
Regards

Still no clue what you are talking about.

If you want to report a 'bug' then you need to provide a description of what is actually happening.

It appears to be something to do with the serial monitor and CR\LF, but no further information, or clues as to what the problem actually is.

Please consider:

When I read your statement, you’ve

  • sent data by typing something into Serial Monitor’s ‘send box’ and hit ENTER
  • your Serial Monitor is set to “no Line Ending”
  • the data is successfully received by your device, with no line ending, and your device sends nothing back to Serial Monitor (how do you know this, independently of reflecting the data back to Serial Monitor and displaying it? Are you using an independent PC application as a serial sniffer, for example?)
  • When you hit ENTER, as mentioned above, the Serial Monitor display of received text advances one line despite nothing being sent back by your device

Is that an accurate reflection of the problem you experienced? If so, whether you think it’s important or not, it may be to other users of Serial Monitor, such as myself, and should be flagged to developers for investigation.

@Opa_Peter Please take a moment to consider, and respond to, my restatement of your problem as presented in post#9. If it is a bug, it does require remediation. If I misstated something, tell us now. Without your confirmation of the exact circumstances, there is zero chance of this going anywhere. I don’t use 2.3.6, but others do.

Thank you
