Firstly, there is no power from the UNO / USB to the stepper driver.
I'd like check a feasibility on the below circuit.
Specifically:
are the resistors on the a4988 lines needed?
have I put a common ground correctly?
Any common of the decoupling capaciters I've added
I need the Arduino always connected via USB.
My goal is to have (not shown) 3 more 0.6A steppers (on the 12V line) added to the Uno. (Don't need a triple driver, they will all se set indivdually.
The HT16K33 will be driving 2 lines of 8digit 7Segment displays (not shown - my fritzing pictures suck).
Both the 12V & 5V lines will be coming from the same ATX power supply.
what is the purpose of the HT16K33 it goes to the analogs what are those lines supplying. If using a standard usb plug the 5v is available on the uno board. another thing missing is the connection for microstep jumpers on 4988 board. And yes Vmot is separate 12v thats fine.
The HK16K33 will be used for 2 8digit lines of 7segment numbers. I've not shown the 7segment displays only because the wiring would make the picture a mess and confusing. There will also be another 3 x HK16K33 that will be doing 16x8 led matrixs.
I know the 5V is available on the Uno - However, I'll be pulling more than 500mA for the project, so I'm opting not to power anything (other than logic) via the board.
From what I've read - I wont need a jumper as I'm doing full steps.
Well don't use it then.
Forget fritzy, as you have found it does not show enough information that a query on this forum should deliver.
Can you please post a picture of a hand drawn circuit in jpg, png?
A little time and the unlimited symbols that are available from a pencil/pen diagram will make for a better result.
Not sure of a symbol... goggle it,,, any breakout PCB can be drawn as a square and as long as you label the connections it will provide the info needed.
Thanks.. Tom...
googe expresspcb download if you want a nice simple and small schematic CAD package, no licences, no baggage with it when you download.
Robin2:
The Pololu A4988 page has a clear wiring diagram and other useful information.

Thanks for those R - I read both of those before posting, so I think I'm OK with the wiring of the A4988. My questions is mainly around the power wiring seeing as I'm using three sources (USB, 5V, 12V) in my project.

Haha - sorry, I saw so many posts using Fritzing, I figured that was the preferred method for showing your circuit on the forums and it never occurred to me to draw my own. I'll draw my own one up and post it up in a bit. Also thanks for the expresspcb recommendation. I'll investigate that next week and see what stuff it has that I want to use.
