Resolved - Can't edit code on Ubuntu Feisty

Hi all,

I have followed the instructions from http://www.arduino.cc/playground/Learning/Linux which worked fine, yet when I startup the IDE itself (works), the main area for the code has a dark blue background and it is indeed locked to editing.

I can open example files, can create new ones and they are all read/writable by my user. Just not edit them (?).

Here is a trace from starting arduino from the shell (which doesn’t tell a lot I guess, but at least there are no error messages to be found):

alexis@siddharta:~/Desktop/arduino-0009$ ./arduino
Experimental: JNI_OnLoad called.
Stable Library

Native lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7
Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

Thanks in advance for your help!

Alexis

It works now:

I found that the setting for ‘Use external editor’ was checked, which disabled the internal one.

Still a rather surprising preset, but in this regard, is there a pointer to how to use emacs as external editor?
