RF transmission using arduino

i am doing my final year project ....as a part of it i need to send data wireless..inorder to reduce the cost i decided to use RF rather that Xbee....but now i am stuck at transmission,,not able to sen d any data.. i need to send a long string wireless...

can anyone help me with how to do it...

Look for "Virtual Wire" library...

But Xbee IS an RF device? It is just that it is an RF device with a protocol behind it.

What is the role of the RF in your project ?

  1. Is it going to transfer some data ?
  2. Just used for switching ?

In any case to interface a low cost RF you should be looking into some modules like the RF434 that comes as a pair !

Try virtualwire.

The RFM12 module is a low cost ISM transceiver - the jeelab's JeeNode uses it for instance and have driver library for Arduino.
