Im kinda new too arduino but have learn some of the basic programing lanuage.
Im helping out in winter in a child ski cross lap, lap goes as following, each kid start with a 30 sec interval, and go too they cross the finish line aprox 30min, we are now taking the time manualy, i Wonder if it is possible too make a rfid system that tracks the time of the kids automaticly, like start nr 1 got a rfid id, start 2 id and so on.. And then write the time on a display or a computer log.
This has been asked before about a few years ago.
The problem is that normal RFID readers do not have sufficient range to cover a gate.
You can get long range ones but they are expensive. You could use active tags but again those are expensive.
Thanks for fast reply, sorry too bring it up again (not see the old post) but does it work if we manualy slides the rfid when they cross? Or is there some other way too make a simular system? Qr code in the front of the ski? What the rfid max range? Thinkig having the reader in ground an glue sensors on ski, the skies are like 3-4 mm..
Well i then guess i can make a narrow start/end gate and Put the reader close too the skitrack and have rfid tag at their left shoe, then reader should be snow protected and range would be aprox 5 inches.
