RFID Door Lock Help

Hello all,

I’m attempting to follow the instructions on http://www.instructables.com/id/Arduino-RFID-Door-Lock and have hit a bit of a snag. Here’s what’s going on.

I am using an Arduino Uno instead of building my own since I have a Uno laying around. I’ve connected it to the breadboard pretty much as the Instructables says. I’ve already confirmed that the LED lights up the colors I want it to. The issue I’m having is with switching the coding to read and accept the RFID. I haven’t even started in on the door lock yet.

5V → Positive on Breadboard
RX → D0 on ID-20
6 → Green LED (Resisted)
5 → Blue LED(Resisted)
3 → Red LED(Resisted)

Gnd → Negative on Breadboard
Res → Positive on Breadboard
Ant → NC
Ant → NC
CP → NC
Vcc → Positive on Breadboard
Read → NC
D0 → Rx on Uno
D1 → NC
Form → Negative on Breadboard
TIR → NC

Code[/b}
The code on the Instructables site is the one I’m with some updates for the pins. It’s attached here since the program is over the character limit for the message.
Current Issue[/b}
I try to upload the program to my uno and it kicks back to the compiler as this…
Binary sketch size: 4,380 bytes (of a 32,256 byte maximum)
avrdude: stk500_recv(): programmer is not responding
Afterward the board resets and goes back to the blink program I had running before uploading this one.
I can offer any pictures if people need them. Any help is greatly appreciated.

You can’t have anything connected to pins 0 and 1 while you try to upload a sketch.
