Hi! I'm a developer but I have no knowledge of Arduino. I need to trigger something when someone approaches at a distance of 15 to 30 cm. I thought about using a tag, because I need an ID. My problem is the distance, because the readers that I researched, only work at a very small distance (0 to 3 cm). Can anybody help me ?
With what exactly. As you say those readers only have a limited range.
What apart from the range do you want from your tag?
Data storage?
Read write capabilities?
You have two choices
- to use a 125KHz tag - the readers I designed had that sort of range but I am not sure about cheap readers.
- use an expensive UHF tag.
Hi Mike!
I just need a reader that reads at a distance of 20 to 30 cm. Read only. No need for data storage.
You will have a job restricting it to a specific range because a lot depends on the angle between the coil in the tag and the coil in the reader.
Like I said I used to design readers for a living at one point and I could get a 30cm range, even 45 cm, but that was a special design that did not use the run of the mill all in one chips you see in cheap reader modules.
