RFID/NFC Tag get data from wordpress MySQL

Hello Forum !
From start I want to tell that I'm new to Arduino, but i need some info on a project that I want to make.

Before I start making some plans on how to do this and invest some money/persons that can handle this project I need to know how hard can it be/needed tools/investment money.

General Info of what I thinked till now, if more info is needed please ask me and I will post the answear  .

I have a local workshop for students to teach them 3D printing/woodworking .
I want to know if its possible to create RFID/NFC tags using wordpress data from MySQL or HTTP/HTTPS.

Web Scenario :

I have a wordpress website where I setup a gamefication plugin.
Each time a student takes a quiz/posts on forum he gets a "x" number of points that are accumulated on his profile.

I want to know if I can get a RFID/NFC tag to get that number of points.
Each member has a RFID/NFC tag card and with that card he can get access to different things around the workshop .

Workshop Scenario :

For each tool there will be a lock , RFID/NFC reader and a LCD display screen.

When a student want to access that tool he needs a number of points on the wordpress gamefication script that are transfered to the RFID/NFC card.

If he has the needed points a text on the LCD screen will appear with something like " You have access to this tool " and the tool will be unlocked .

Else if the user doesn't meet the needed points the LCD screen will show **" You don't have the needed points for this tool, please visit to get more info "[/b] and the tool will stay locked. **
> I need only info if this is possible, not the way to do it.

Thanks and waiting to see if this is possible!

Yes this is possible with the right sort of tag. You need a mifaire tag, these are cheap and the readers are too. They can hold 1K of data although lock keys take up a lot of space so the real space is only about 740 bytes. The RFID 522 reader is very cheap.

You need code on your PC that will program the tags with the data, so the student will have to go to the PC to update the points.

Only two snags, how are you going to turn off the machine, and what stops a student from using some on else's card?

Thanks for the reply !

About the stopping of the machine , I think every machine needs to be setup to shutdown if idle for 3 to 10 minutes.

About the students that want to use someones card is resolved by the fact that the workshop is monitored and they are checkd if they try to cheat ( Anyway they need to do the course to get access to the a machine and if he dosen't do that he dosen't know how to use it  ).

Question : Is there a guide where it shows how to extract data from mysql to a rfid tag ?

I don't know of any guide but then that is not my world. You will need to write code on your PC to do this and have that code either write to the reader/programmer or send it to the Arduino for the card program.

I think every machine needs to be setup to shutdown if idle for 3 to 10 minutes.

That is another project, it depends on how you monitor activity.
