RFID Reader -- Not working?

I'm new to this whole Arduino thing. I've had programming experience in the past so that is helping a lot.

I ordered the RFID Reader (Innovations ID-12 from SparkFun.com) along with the ID12 Breakout. I'm trying to set up my Arduino to get a signal from the reader into the Arduino's (Duemilanove) RX (0) pin.

I soldered headers to the breakout and when I put the RFID reader on top of it while it is on my breadboard, it doesn't seem like the reader is doing anything. When I move a RFID card over the reader I get no data from the serial line.

Could it be that I need to solder the RFID reader to the breakout? Or is there some other underlying problem?

I've got some pictures if you would like to see them.

Thanks,
Cameron

Here's a link to a photobucket album with the images I took. If you need more, I can take more.

Yes, you have to solder the reader to the breakout board too.

Alrighty. I wasn't quite sure if I needed to. Thanks!
