RFID response time

Hi there,

I am developing a Arduino based control system using an RFID reader as the input.

My plan is to have a foam dart that has a RFID tag glued on to it, shoot it at the RFID reader, and then send the signal to the output system.

I am currently testing on a RFID reader that reads 125kHz tags. And it seems like the darts are too fast for the reader to detect.

So my question is what is the response time for RFID readers and is there any way I can detect the tags at high speed?

It takes about quarter of a second for an RFID tag to read.

I do not know of any way of speeding this up as they work internally at about 4800 baud.

I think you are trying to get Formula 1 performance from the most basic RFID system
