Ok, here's the deal, I got a Mini Mac on my Living Room which I use to watch DVDs and TV Shows (iTunes) and a mini remote that is great for using it. I also installed the following RGB LED Strip on the ceiling:
It works great, but now I get to keep that bigger RGB Remote so I can dim the lights when we are watching TV and light-up when we need to get up.
So, I had this idea of using just the Mini Mac remote to do that, while still let it work with the original remote.
I tested it with an Arduino 2009 + Rugged Circuits Gadget Shield and it works. I'm using the Play-Hold option on the remote, which I disabled on the MAC, so it does nothing when I hold the Play button for a few seconds.
The thing is, now I want to make a small board with an ATtiny85, 7805 regulator, and use the same 12V power from the RGB Strip. (I'm using a very powerful 12V adapter, so it will hold both)
First I wonder what sort of chip is inside that remote, I tried to open but couldn't, so I didn't try more so I wouldn't break the darn thing.
Secondly, could I just remove the Infra-Sensor from the RGB Remote and connect the ATtiny85 directly to those pins so the ATtiny85 would receive all Infra-Data and send to the RGB Strip via wire the Infra-Data?
Anyway, I will post the project details once I get some more time to mess around with this.
