RIP and Pepperoni's

It is with a heavy heart today that we mourn the loss of my Arduino Due board. Seeing as the only sketch I ever used on it was the blink sketch to test it, I was excited with the thought of a cool idea for that 12 bit adc so I popped this thing out of my storage bins and hooked it up. Checked and double checked all my connections, make sure no +5v hitting the i/o's...and then it happened...

I accidentally connected +Vin to A0. Now an internal short keeps the chip super hot with the power connected.

Being extremely proficient in soldering due to my job, i searched for a replacement SAM chip and found some for as little as just over $10, sweet! It would be cake to replace it! Then I learn that there is a ROM burned to the chip when the boards are assembled. Oy,

Its as good as parts. RIP.

The new chips have the same rom - it's an Atmel thing rather than an arduino thing...
You might be able to get a "free sample" from microchip...

Hey, i meant to post in here, my due is on its last leg, The native usb connector went with the wind several months ago.... we will see. The micro usb is a terrible design choice.

Hi,
I don't know if this may help;

Tom... :slight_smile:
Thankfully my DUE is still kicking, but I have to keep reminding myself, 3V3.
