RN-42 HID not visible

Hi,

I am newbie so please excuse my ignorance here. I purchased a Bluetooth RN-42 HID module (not mounted) and to keep it sample I am just trying to test connectivity with my Windows 7 computer.

So, soldered 4 wires to the modules and use a breadboard and nano to power the module
Nano USB -> Computer
Nano 3.3V pin -> RN-42 VDD
Nano GND pin -> RN-42 GND
RN-42 TX loop-back to RN-42 RX (for sample echoing)

My understanding is that a brand new module is in slave mode by default so the module should be discoverable by default.
The module is not showing up (not broadcasting I guess) in the list of available Bluetooth devices from any Bluetooth listening that I tried (PC, Android, IPhone, IPad), I checked that the module had power and it does.

Any idea why the module is not visible? Do I need todo more than the above for the device to be discoverable?

Huge thanks for any help.

Stephane

The module don't like loop-backs on TX/RX when booting. The module is now visible to my computer.
