I was wondering if anyone is still using RoadRunner wiring to make one of a kind boards?
I used it many years ago but stopped doing so after I started making my own PCBs.
Wire wrap is still used. Roadrunner seems to be a variation of that. The last line in the instructions is "solder all joints" so it's some kind of hybrid.
It actually could be useful for wiring those pesky SMD components when you just want to put a new MOSFET or SOIC-8 onto a breadboard. It's not cheap, but not outrageously expensive either.
I have used the RoadRunner wiring pens and enameled wire many many years ago.
It was great for making modifications to boards.
Yes you solder the wires (by heating the enameled coated wire with 400 degrees iron).
I was just wondering if any one was still using it.
It would be good for SMD one of a kind boards but I used it when SMD was just a gleam in your eye.
.
Tried it years ago but most of my work was layout critical so I soon gave up.
Russell.
Yes, I also gave up with it for similar reason.
With the new schematic capture programs, making a PCB is simpler.
Still would be ok to use it for small board modifications.
Looks like it isn't as popular as it use to be, at least here.
