robbe speedcontroller and the servo library

Hi,

I thought it would be fun to test my new arduino by putting it in my rc car. I assumed that if the arduino could drive a servo it would also be able to drive my speedcontroller. Because my speedcontroller has got BEC(Battery Eliminating Circuit) I only connected the signal wire.
But it doesnt work! does anybody of you know the difference in the signal between a servo and a speedcontroller? It has the same pinout and the reciever doesnt care what you plug in. Or is it an arduino specific error?

I Cant find a story of someone actually using a rc speedcontroler with an arduino...

The speedcontroller cant be found on the robbe site but it is an 12V 20A controller for cars... no8389 rookie

I only connected the signal wire.

What about the ground (0V) ?

Gosh! thats like the most stupid mistake i ever made when working with wires.... Thank you for pointing me at it! I can now continue making cool things..

Edit: BEC works fine with the Vin pin on the arduino
