Using Arduino Project Guidance

I've always wanted to build something like a robotic scorpion or creature. Im totaly new to Arduino so I need some guidance please.

The creature will have a just one basic functions:
Will have 4 Legs that move with an unsynchronised movement. Leg 1, then 2, then 3 and 4. (At a fast speed).

What components will I need? Please keep in mind I want to be able to control this wirelessly from my laptop or a mobile app.

Im guessing I need a wireless board, usb wire to write code into the Arduino, 4 motors, breadboard, and a fan maybe? I've never used Arduino before so please guide me right on what EXACTLY I need (model no, name, etc..), as theres a few different boards/components (I hardly know the difference).

Also please guide me on wires/ small components?

No, it won't. Nothing that moves one leg at time moves quickly.

Several of them, to cheer for you as you build the robot and write the code.

You really need to do a lot of up front research for your project. Six legged walking bots may be easier to program than four legged ones. Lynxmotion sells multileg bot kits, so you might want to study their assembly guides. They also have wireless ps2 gamepads for controlling the bots.
