Rotating connection for three wires?

Does anyone make a component that will let a part of my project rotate freely, while maintaining the connection of three wires? This is for a poi that would be suspended from your hand by the same wires that power some leds.

Looks like:

The component is called a slip ring.

You mean sliding contacts /slip rings - ? You can GND the axis -> still need two

What size of axis, weigth etc? is it for a modeltrain or for something BIG?

It's for a poi. As small and light as possible. Would need to support maybe 3-4 lbs of force, tops.

Slip ring, got it. Thanks.

Conducting poi harnesses? OK, color me intrigued :P More information?!!

What is a poi ? (sorry, English is not my mothertongue)

You could experiment with a 3.5mm stereo jack plug and socket - these connectors are kind-of like a slip-ring connector for proof of concept (but of course can be pulled apart far too easily). Sounds like an engineering challenge to make a good robust miniature slip-ring set, good luck.

A telephone cord "untangler" has four wires, but the weight requirement may make it fail.

It involves a spinning light source that makes words or pictures look as if they are steady state. You can use a few spinning LEDs to make a word or a PacMan symbol.

A poi is just a weight on a string, that you spin around yourself. They're very fun to play with. Try it out with 2 tennis balls in stockings (or similar).

Sometimes people light them up, which makes them as much fun to watch as to play with. Some light up with LEDs, others are made to be set on fire. Using systems of LED's to write things in the air is very new, but is what I'm going to use this for.

People dance with them, exercise with them or, more often if you're like me, hit themselves in the face and groin.

Lots of fun. =^D

OK, never knew that was called a poi, thanks!! learned something again today :)
