RS232 Transciver

Hi all!

I'm working on formula student project, and we have standalone ECU which communicate with our laptop using RS232. And everything works great now, but problem is that we would like to be connected with ecu during the race because of telemetry and to see what really happens with car.

So does anyone know some kind of transciver on ebay, which range is about 1km or less, and isn't very expensive?

Thanks!

formula is outdoor, right?

What u ask is wireless RS-232 link.

some of them give;-
indoor: 450m
outdoor:32 km

Hi sonnyyu,

thanks on help, but it's pretty expensive, are there any cheaper alternatives?

There are, what is your baud rate requirement and target price, industrial or DIY? one thing is bother me I can not connect formula with cheaper. 8)

9XStream 900 MHz 450 m 9600 bps (Industrial),$191.73 USD

We can chose preferred baud rate between 4800,9600,19200,38400,57600,115200. Current is set to the 19200.

Is there anything in the price tag below 50-60$, this is student competition and one of the main goal is to have thing as functional as possible but relatively cheap?

And also here is the next problem, what isn't quite related to transciver: Because we have only one rs232 port on our ECU, and I want to build little computer using arduino which will fetch data from the ECU and display it on the LCD screen, so is there any rs232 switcher or something like that?

Thanks!

sonnyyu:
U need RS232 Sniffer;-

DIY RS232 serial spy monitor cable

RS232 Sniffer Passive Tap - USB Port

EZ-Tap Pro

all u do is reverse engineering to make Arduino output same as PC.

electronics is art, not science.

Use Wireless, RF, RS232, Transparent as key word search at ebay, or wait member here show us the light.

Thanks on help this look's great!!!
