RS485 can't work along OPTAController extension

Hello,
I'm trying to establish a connection between a PC with USB-RS485 to an OPTA. I succeeded in doing so but the OPTA needs to communicate with an extension module. But when I try to OPTAController in my sketch, the rs-485 seems to hang... as if they use the same hardware and can't be used simultaneously. Somebody know something about this ?
