I cannot understand why people want to complicate Arduino programs with the overhead of an RTOS.
Why not just use the simple technique in Several Things at a Time

Well the reason is that it is home work. Set presumably by someone with some software knowledge and no knowledge about hardware or controllers.
Robin, sometimes it is useful. As an example, I had to solve the continuity of the second functionality while the Arduino is sending very long data stream to the serial line. It can be solved by yield function but in case of more complicated APP it is hard to keep the consistency and it is easy to do logic mistakes. I think that there is a sense for RTOS on ATmega but of course it is power consuming. On the internet there is plenty of RTOSes, just choose one. Here is another one Arduino Playground - OS48.

Then a simple state machine would have solved this. No need for any yield function.
