Folks,
See this question I asked in this forum: Edison on Arduino Carrier, no Static IP Address after using WiFi.config() - Networking, Protocols, and Devices - Arduino Forum
And this discussion in Intel's forums: https://communities.intel.com/thread/67179
One respondent in the Intel thread said that Intel created a version of the IDE's bundled libraries that contains substantial differences from the libraries bundled in the 1.6.3 Arduino IDE.
Is that true?
If it is, I'm left feeling a bit adrift.
- The WiFi library code seems to be broken (see my questions above).
- Solutions that might exist might not be getting rolled into the latest releases of the libraries.
- Each time I attempt to use my Edison Arduinos for something new, I might have to spend a ton of time tying to guess at a combination of back-level libraries, etc. that will behave more or less correctly.
Am I missing something? Is there some crucial set of documentation somewhere that I can use to navigate this while good people are working behind the scenes to merge various improvements into a future release of the Arduino and Edison code?
I 100% realize saying that managing situations like this is tough, is an understatement; but if the published documentation isn't accurate, I might have to throw the Edison Arduino into the trash along with the WiFi cards that use the TI CC3000 chips. I don't want to do that.
Please excuse the grumpy tone, but if what was written in the Intel thread is accurate, and if the WiFi library web pages make false claims, I guess I should be a little grumpy....
