Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right forum, but I've been working with the SeeedStudio WIO-E5 for LoraWan applications and have been able to update the firmware to run Arduino applications.
let me know if anyone is interested and I'll post the solution.
Is there a guaranteed way of programming these E5 things ?
I have bricked a couple of these, and the pins you need access to reload the bootladers etc are not avaialable that I can see.
I haven't bricked any...yet.
What I learned is the E5 is virtually identical to the RAK3172 (STM32WLE5JC vs STM32WLE5CC). I used the STM32CubeProgrammer to upload the RAK RUI3 firmware into the WIO-E5-mini Dev board. It now behaves as the RAK3272S Breakout board. There are obviously different IO configs, but it has been running code originally targeting the RAK3272S. Don't think this violates any licensing, but I could be mistaken.
Good.
But if it happens, do you have access to the pins to re-program the bootlader etc ?
I bricked my first unit, but was able to erase flash and reload RUI3 firmware using SWDIO/SWCLK. Now it accepts new Arduino sketches.
