That's fantastic, but not Apple exclusive. The head of disability services for one of the world's largest retailers is the father of one of my students. He and his wife are both blind, they use Android and the company has their own line of Android based tablets with many special features. These features are available for any Android 4.0 or newer through a 2nd app store.
On a positive side note I'll digress and tell you of my favorite success story as a teacher. Same people. Their child has incredible drawing talent, comparable to Don Bluth or Disney animators, but with two blind parents this student was sorely lacking the parental pride that most of us take for granted. Over the course of our regular studies I taught this student to use popsicle sticks, carving tools, and a computer projector to create 3D relief cuts of their art so their parents could experience and truly be proud of their art. It was a privilege to witness it happen for the first time.
