school project.. an arduino with desire

Hello,

I want to create the following robot for my school assignment. And i need some guidance. I want to create a bot which is making a sad sound (Sad music) when im not around. But when im in his company. I want him to be happy, such like happy movements, and happy sounds. What would be the most awesome thing is that the arduino follows me wherever I go.

The materials i have are..
arduino uno
breadboard
jumpers
light sensor
distance sensor.
sound sensor.

what should i need to purchase before I can begin? And what is the best method to do this.. Thank you very much

If this is your first Arduino project be prepared for it to take a long time (months) to develop. What you have described is a complex project.

Start by writing short programs to learn how to use each of your sensors separately.

Don't even think about buying all the parts before you begin. You need to gain experience first with the parts you already have.

You need a wave shield/amplifier/speakers or something to play music with, that the Arduino can control.
