I have a lamp with 5 clear screw-in lights, 3 of which need replacing. I have tried to get replacements through a couple of suppliers, but they say they don't do them any more. Someone suggested the bulbs used in model railways.
The information I have is:

Can anyone help with alternative replacements? It's a nice lamp and I'm reluctant to replace it if I can get the light bulbs.

Maybe it can be re-wired to use LEDs or something that's available.
There used to be lots of kinds of tiny light bulbs but most are probably out of production since LED's took over the world...
Do they have a metal base that has a number stamped in the metal? Can you take a picture and post it. I, along with many others, have a box full of misc. old bulbs, and one may match.
Might be time to upgrade.

Can you be more specific about "very tiny"? Dimensions and/or a photo, perhaps?
0.84W sounds very low for a "lamp." I did find some "1280a" 8W bulbs: 01280 - Miniature / Automotive Light Bulb | LightBulbs.com , but they're not what I would call "very tiny."
This sounds like something from an old string of Christmas tree lights where, for 240 volts, 20 would be in series.
Not in all cases. I have an alarm clock (near current model) with radio time synchronisation (DCF77) and an analog display. It is powered by a single AA (1.5v) battery. To illuminate the dial there is a simple filament bulb, a bead with two projecting wires. I don't think the led technology is quite there yet to replace it without at least a few additional components.
