charliePlexingScrollClock - YouTube is a vid of my scrolly clock. This is my first post, i only recently joined the forum and wanted to share. I put it on youtube cause i didn't know if it was cool to post vids on this forum, bandwidth and all. I just started charlieplexing recently for another project and as a learning tool to better understand charlieplexing implementation i built this. But along the way i got sidetracked with the cool scrolling, font tables and array calculations. I'm an arduino noob but love it and got excited when building this cause it was so easy to build and code. It's only 5 resistors, some wire, 20 leds and one arduino. It uses no other libs (i couldn't get the charlieplexing library to work) and is very small code wise except the font tables.
Well done on your project. Have you thought about using a real-time clock IC for time keeping?
Thanks Johnft. I never heard of RTCs for arduinos before so i goog'd it and found this module - DS1307 Real Time Clock breakout board kit : ID 264 : $7.95 : Adafruit Industries, Unique & fun DIY electronics and kits But first i think i'll take a look at some old motherboards i have in the scrap bin. Thanks for the reply and the tip!!!
