SD and microSD cards of 2GB??

I keep seeing SD card readers (I got Velleman VMA304) saying 2GB capacity, but have no clue how to buy an SD card smaller than 8GB. Did get an 8GB card to be recognized, but had lots of what it thought were directory names made out of all kinds of unusual chars, so not really interested in putting data on it.

What's the situation here?
Thanks.

I don't like this solution.....

at $9,990 for only 2 cards, you would expect them to be made of platinum and come with a new car. others on e-bay are much less than $1,000 each, some as low at $1.00 smart shopping is in order.

on e-bay, you can get other readers for about $1.00 that will read up to 32 gig.

but, I suspect you have to format your SD card with a FAT that has a 16 bit file system.

It knows DOS FAT16 but not DOS FAT32. FAT is file allocation table.

Arduino can see the 8G SD with the library we have.
