SD library license

Greetings everyone,

The SD library files state it's a GPL3 library therefore not usable in closed source commercial products, but the site's FAQ says the Arduino core and libraries are usable in commercial, closed source situations.

I'm guessing the FAQ has an error, but could I get some official confirmation on this?

Thanks in advance.

Nothing trumps the words in the library file itself, it says:-

SD - a slightly more friendly wrapper for sdfatlib

This library aims to expose a subset of SD card functionality in the form of a higher level "wrapper" object.

License: GNU General Public License V3 (Because sdfatlib is licensed with this.)

Yeah, read the same thing, thanks!

I’ll write my own then, yay for extra work! haha

sorry for waking up this 2year old thread, but did anyone get any luck on this? any SD library available for commercial use...?

If he wrote it for commercial use then he probably wouldn't share it with anyone else. If you want it, you'll have to write it. Be careful you don't make it look like the one here.
