Seeeduino Mega, and AVRDUDE

Hello all,
I just got a Seeeduino Mega, and tried programming it, with the result of the dreaded AVRDUDE programming error.
I'm using a Macbook (OSX 10.5), Arduino IDE 0017, board selection "Arduino Mega" and I have a Nuelectronics Colour LCD Shield, which I am trying to program.
Some insight into why I'm getting this error would be good, as I am under the understanding that the Seeeduino Mega is compatible with the Arduino Mega, in terms of programming.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Shane.

Well I don't use Mac so can't say for what to check for. However I do have a Seeeduino Mega, running XP and Arduino V17 and it works great. You might want to check that you have the reset switch on the Seeeduino in the A (automatic reset) position.

Excellent! That worked a treat. Just as a matter of happenstance, what does the "M" mean on the reset switch?

I'm guessing Manual, as in, you have to manually push the reset button.

I think so too. Some people (Windows user as far as I have heard) have trouble with the auto reset feature since the Arduino will reset on a reboot of the connected PC.

On Seeedstudio's product page they list "Difference vs. Arduino Mega", and point six is "Auto/Manual reset selectable".

I love the Seeeduino Mega and almost regret buying "old school" Megas' before ordering the Seeeduinos. Just two millimeters longer than the Arduino 2k9, 70 digital I/O pins etc. I just wish they would have put the I2C pins in a better way, with Vcc and GND between SDA and SCL, as recommended.

I love mine also. Almost the 'perfect' Arduino platform IMHO and at $50 the most bang for the buck out there. The 3.3/5 volt switch is a flawed designed, but if left on 5v and ignored it causes no problem. Too bad the Arduino IDE will most likely never support the extra 16 digitals pins in their pin mapping but with direct port access they are avalbile for use.
