Selecting a 15m cable for MPU6050

Hello,

Could you please tell me if there are any minimum cross-sectional area or other requirements to consider while selecting a cable to connect MPU6050 and UNO at a distance of 15m ?

Part of my project consists of two UNOs and MPU6050. UNO A is powered by computer USB, which powers UNO B by connecting the 5V pins. MPU6050 is connected to and powered by the 3V3 pin on UNO B.

Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated! :smiley:

This device uses the I2C bus so any information on that will be relevant.
However 15m is way over the top for communication over I2C without any extra buffers.
This is what you are facing:-

One of the main criteria will be the capacitance of the wires so steer clear of twisted pairs.

Hi Mike,

Thanks very much for pointing out the problem with I2C communication at a distance - I'll need to first get some I2C bus extenders. Also, thanks for the tips on wire capacitance!
