Send data from a esp8266 to another esp8266 via?

Hi guys, i just tried to make a project but i've failed and i'm starting again from zero.
I need some suggestion how can i do this project...
What i need to do? If i press a button connected to an esp8266, another esp8266 will print a message on a led monitor.
I've made the code for button, the code for the monitor but my problem is how can i send the value pressed from an esp8266 to another.
Bot esp8266 need to connect to a wifi router (the distance doesn't permit the direct connection between them).
I search but i don't know where i can get the best solution...
What do you suggest to connect them?
