Send G code to BLTouch sensor

I want to send M280 commands to a BLTouch auto leveling sensor for my 3D printer. I've been unable to get the darn thing to work and am beginning to think it might be defective. I would like to do some testing before I buy another.

I've been looking for a sketch that I put on an UNO and then send M commands to the sensor via serial monitor. Any help please.

That may work, but it probably is about as useful to you as your description was to me.

How can you send an instruction to a sensor? You can only send an instruction to a computer program.
