sending and receiving data between arduino and web server

I am very new to Arduino and I am using Arduino for my Final Year Project in school.

I am just wondering how can I send and receive data between the Arduino and Web Server.

My project requires me to receive GPS coordinate from a mobile phone application, analyze and return information from Arduino to the mobile phone application.

The Arduino Uno will be connected to the GSM shield and a GPS module. The GSM shield will be used to download and upload information, will the GPS module will be used to determine GPS coordinate of the Arduino, it will then "estimate" the time to the coordinate of the mobile phone.

Between the Mobile phone and Arduino will sit the web server.

Is there anyone out there have similar experience with project like this can provide some guidance.

Appreciate if anyone can help.

Thanks in advance.

You may find these tutorials get you going nicely.

Thanks JimboZA, i apologise for not providing proper information.

As the device will be placed on a moving vehicle, therefore I will be using a GSM/GPRS shield instead.

do you have any information on using the GSM shield?

TIA

Which GSM shield are you using? Provide links to the used hardware. Isn't there a web client example coming with the Arduino library for your GSM shield?

Hi Pylon,

I am using the Arduino GSM shield. http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoGSMShield

Arduino Uno http://arduino.cc/en/Main/ArduinoBoardUno

and adafruit Ultimate GPS logger shield http://www.adafruit.com/products/1272

The Arduino IDE contains an example in the GSM library folder that's called "GsmWebClient" which does what you're looking for. Just adapt it to your needs.
