Sending data from PC to Arduino

Hi everyone,

I want to implement a task which reads a chunk of data from a file on the PC and sends it over to the Arduino Mega board I'm using. As I went through most of the example codes provided by Arduino, it seems to me that it only allows the user to key in character by character using the Serial Monitor function on the programmer. Does anyone attempt to implement something similar or have a pointer of how I should go about doing it? Thanks.

Jeff

The Arduino USB serial port can talk to any PC application capable of talking on a comm port. The Arduino serial library is a character by character interface so it’s up to you to supply any higher level protocol. Check out the many articles on PC to arduino communications here:

GoBetwino can do that for you. If you can live with reading one line from a file at a time.
