is it possible to send serial signals wirelessly (via cheap RF link modules like - RF Link Transmitter - 434MHz - WRL-08946 - SparkFun Electronics), directly from the computer (using FTDI only, without an arduino) ?
What kind of board do you have with an FTDI chip on it? That will determine whether you can connect the transmitter to the board.
What are you attaching the receiver to?
