Sending voice information over a wireless network

Hello,

I have a voice recognition software on my computer at home. I was hoping that there would be a way that I could talk to my computer back at home over wireless. Both computers are connected to a wireless network that is extended out to be a couple miles wide. Does anybody have any information on doing such things?
I was just thinking of starting out with my android phone and using windows' voice recognition software before I went too deep.

Like ssh?

Hm, how would one get started with that? It looks difficult.

What OS are both PCs running? How are they connected?

ssh works best with two PCs running a unix-like OS connected over the internet, preferably without routers in between.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with Arduino's, but whatever.

Well I would imagine if you are programming the Android phone, you would use the voice recognition s/w on the Android phone directly, rather than trying to send the information over the internet.

If you need to do it however, I would look up VOIP (voice over internet). There are various open software variants that you should be able to adapt for your use.

Thats why I put it here in general discussion.

Aww how could I forget VOIP! I'll work with that.
