Sensitivity of RCWL-0516 radar motion sensor

I have acquired a few RCWL-0516 radar motion detectors, and I wish to use one at the front door to trigger a camera. If I position as i wish, it will have within its view a palm tree, which has branches that occasionally move in the wind, at about four meters from the sensor. Has anybody used this sensor in similar circumstances, and is there a good way to bring sensitivity down past 5 meters?

A Google search turned this up. You could have found it, also.

Adjustment components

On the back of the board (the side without components) are pads for 3 optional components (0805 dimensions).

Yes. I did find it. I am not in the habit of asking questions that I haven't duly researched. However, the information about R GN and the 1 M resistor fails completely. I find that the value of a resistor across those terminals seems to have nothing to do with range. If someone else has played with this and found a work around, I'd be interested in communicating.

Sorry to hear that. So, you actually added the resistor and no reduction in range?

I applied a 1 meg pot across the terminals, and found no noticeable difference in range at any value. I found a forum somewhere where several users had had the same experience. Of course, with such a low price, there may be many defective units being shipped.

I'm kind of wondering the same thing. Many defective units being shipped?
I purchased 2 of them and they only detect motion between 10-20mm. Totally ineffective. I've asked the vendor for a full refund. I don't need help with the sketch, just a reliable source for "good" sensors. Thanks in advance.

IS that distance from the sensor? Awfully close. What are you using for a reflector? How fast is it moving?

I was operating at 5' - 20' from the radar to detect humans. I wanted to cut that range to about 5' 10'.

Were the humans moving to the sensor or away. The dopler effect is only for that movement toward or away. Most humans are large enough to have some of that effective movement.

I got a refund from the vendor. I now have an HW-MS03 sensor that works perfectly fine. I've posted two sketches; Arduino and ESP8266
