I forgot a couple of times my keys in the lock of the door of my house so I'd like to use Arduino+sensor stuck to the door inside to detect if the keys are in the lock outside.
So I would need a (binary) proximity/distance detector between the Arduino and the keychain that should go across the door, I thought about a Hall effect sensor but it would require having a magnet on my keychain which is not ideal, any idea about other type of sensors that could work ?
Tie the key ring to your coat with a piece of string.
You have to look at a fallibility of your device in telling you the keys aren’t there when they are - you have a moving door , power supply requirements etc .
A simple approach is often easier - how about a second lock in doors that you need to put the key in to stop a buzzer ?
Could be done without Arduino.
Even a box/hook with a flag on it that says “ keys ?” Would suffice( piece of paper on an elastic band pulled behind a piece of card when you hang keys on it )
