That module appears to use a standard piezo buzzer disk used in alarm clocks, which typically have a resonant frequency in the range of 2-4 kHz.
It may not very sensitive to ultrasonic frequencies, so you might consider salvaging a transducer from an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor module.
