Using Arduino Sensors

Hello,

I`m a student and I have a project in which I would need sensors to alter the sound produced by an Korg electribe Er1 analog drum machine.

I had thought of using distance sensors to, through the arduino, be able to alter the sound gradually using a midi interface and AbletonLive software.

The thing is if you could guide me in terms of types of sensors (my idea is that it is about 3m approx.) Or if my idea is possible since I do not know much about it.

Soy estudiante y tengo un proyecto en el necesitaria sensores para alterar el sonido producido por una caja de ritmos analógica Korg electribe Er1 .

Habia pensado en utilizar sensores de distancia para, a través del arduino poder alterar el sonido gradualmente utilizando una interfaz midi y un software estilo AbletonLive.

La cosa es si me podíais guiar en cuanto a tipos de sensores (mi idea es que fuera de unos 3m aprox.) o si es posible mi idea ya que no se mucho sobre el tema.
