If an Arduino port is not showing up, your USB connection might be faulty or the ports may be disabled entirely. Resolution to this is enabling a port in Arduino and look it up in the Device Manager. If Arduino fail to detect any ports, we need to update or reinstall the drivers.
Really?
Surely, what Device Manager shows is entirely independent of Arduino IDE settings?
Not necessarily.
First check hardware; eg,
- Is the USB cable securely connected at both ends?
- Is the Arduino board powering up?
- Are you suing a proper USB data cable - not just a charging cable?
- Test that the cable works (ie, gives a full data connection) with other devices.

Why is your whole post in BOLD ?
