serial data real-time viewer??

Does anybody have a suggestion for a program to run on XP/Vista that will allow you to watch and/or record serial data in real time. I'm looking to send my accelerometer data to my laptop and want to see the numbers change while I'm moving it around, to get a feel for it's sensitivity before I write too much code that relies on that sensitivity.

serial monitoring is built into the Arduino IDE. Check the reference page for the code to use.

Hyperterminal that ships with Windows can also do the job. It can aslo save the data to a file if i don't remember much wrong.
