I was really interested in creating a simple sketch that would echo any input from the serial monitor, but since it turned out not easy enough for me,

very simple

  Serial.begin(9600);
  Serial.println("serial test 0021"); // so I can keep track of what is loaded
}

  while (Serial.available()) {
    delay(2);  //delay to allow byte to arrive in input buffer
